Allergies are a serious issue and death is a possibility!

An allergy is an abnormally high sensitivity reaction to an ordinarily harmless substance. Most people have some degree of allergies. Our bodies are unique in that everyone may be sensitive to different things that cause a negative reaction in them when they are exposed to them. These irritants also cause a variety of different reactions in different people. For example, one person may be fine living in a house full of cats. The next person may have a serious reaction just coming into a room that a cat once walked through. Allergies are very individual in both their reaction and severity. People may go there whole lives without ever exhibiting an allergic reaction to anything. Other people need to wear a mask just to breathe the air.

It is thought that the massive exposure we all have to chemicals today may be making us more sensitive to allergies. The other side of the coin states that we have always been sensitive to allergies, we are just becoming more familiar with the symptoms and treatments. We may not be able to remove the things in our environment that we are allergic to and we must learn to deal with the reactions.

Allergies can be so server in some people that it is a risk to their lives to be exposed to the source. Peanuts are a very common food that can cause death quickly to a highly sensitive person. The sing from a bee or wasp is also a common high risk allergy. Serious reactions require immediate transport to the hospital and immediate medical intervention.
