Two-Mile Walk To Promote Physical Fitness and healthy lifestyle initiative
Prince Georges County Health and Human Services Team, Health Department Center For Healthy Lifestyle Initiatives, Office of Community Relations and the Maryland-National Capital Park and Planning Commission will host the first annual Two-Mile Walk.
The event will be held at the Health Department Headquarters Building, 1701 McCormick Drive, Largo, Maryland. The Two-Mile Walk - approximately 4,000 steps is sponsored to help residents incorporate more physical activities in their daily routines and focus on the importance of making healthy lifestyle changes to prevent chronic diseases such as diabetes, heart disease and stroke.
The Two-Mile Walk is strongly supported by Prince Georges County Executive Jack B. Johnson as part of his Livable Communities Initiatives. We encourage all residents to participate in this event because without healthy people we can not achieve healthy communities, said James A. Dula, Ph.D., Deputy Chief Administrative Officer for Health and Human Services.
The Prince Georges County Health Department Center For Healthy Lifestyle Initiatives is sponsoring the Two-Mile Walk to demonstrate to residents how easy it can be to make 30 - 60 minutes of physical fitness a part of their day, said Frederick J. Corder, M.D., F.A.A.P., Health Officer.
