Latest Trends in Food and Nutrition Science

More than 50 national experts from fields ranging from nutrition science and journalism to government and business updated members and leaders of the American Dietetic Association May 12-16 on the latest developments in food and nutrition at ADA’s first Nutrition News Forecast.

The Nutrition News Forecast brought together nationally recognized science researchers, journal editors, corporations, government and nonprofit agencies to address critical food and nutrition issues and trends facing our nation that will shape news coverage in the next year.

Held at the Sofitel Chicago Water Tower, the Forecast more than achieved its goal of informing ADA leaders and ADA’s news media Spokespeople on leading issues and latest trends in food and nutrition, according to ADA’s Chief Executive Officer Ronald S. Moen.

Through presentations, lectures, moderated panel discussions and workshops, the Forecast was designed to help the Association achieve the vision of 'Leading the future of dietetics' for the benefit of our nearly 70,000 members,’ Moen said.

The attendees left the conference extremely informed and prepared to inform the public and media about ADA, our healthful eating messages and positions and the knowledge and expertise of dietetics professionals in helping people get and stay healthy.

Nutrition News Forecast sessions and topics included:

* The Food and Drug Administration’s obesity initiative
