Announcing the New Yoga Journal Three-Volume Video and DVD Series: Yoga Journal's Yoga Step-by-Step

Yoga Journal, the country’s premier yoga magazine, has just released its new three-volume video and DVD series, Yoga Journal's Yoga Step-by-StepTM: The Total Guide to Beginning Your Home Practice. Yoga Step-by-Step is the most comprehensive, authoritative and practical guide on the market for practitioners who want the benefits of a top-quality yoga class in the privacy and convenience of their own home. The series stars acclaimed yoga instructor Natasha Rizopoulos, a senior teacher at the famed Yoga Works in Santa Monica, CA.

The three volume set includes Volume 1: Foundation Poses for Strength & Stamina; Volume 2: Bending & Twisting Poses for Flexibility and Volume 3: Balancing Poses for Focus & Energy. The series may be purchased directly from Yoga Journal.

According to a recent study of the yoga market, released by Yoga Journal in conjunction with Harris Interactive*, of the 15 million people in America now practicing yoga, 8.7 million are beginning students, and of that group, 82%—or more than 7 million—practice at home. This series is for them.

Each video/DVD includes a 35-minute tutorial, giving detailed instructions for how to do the poses, with modifications for less flexible students, and basic information about the underlying principles of movement and breath, anatomy and alignment, the health benefits of yoga, injury prevention, and yoga philosophy. Each video/DVD also includes a 20-minute practice session that offers users a complete flowing workout. Each volume in the series is increasingly more challenging, building from basic beginning poses such as Sun Salutations in Volume 1 to advanced beginning poses such as Handstand preparation in Volume 3.

In the videos/DVDs, Rizopoulos is accompanied by two assistants—Jason Crandell, who demonstrates modifications for less flexible students, and Autumn Alvarez, who serves as Natasha’s model for hands-on adjustment demonstrations.
