RAE Systems Introduces the First Wireless Indoor Air Quality Monitor to Detect VOCs

RAE Systems Inc., a Gas Detection and Smart Sensing Network solution provider for environmental, safety and security monitoring has responded to the increased concerns for air quality, facility management, public safety and ventilation detection with its new wireless AreaRAE IAQ gas detection solution.

The AreaRAE IAQ is the first wireless indoor air quality monitor that combines a Photo- Ionization Detector with traditional measures of IAQ: temperature, humidity, carbon dioxide (CO2) and a user-selected toxic gas sensor such as carbon monoxide (CO).

The PID gives the AreaRAE IAQ the ability to measure 0-1,000 parts-per-million (ppm) of VOCs with 0.01 ppm (10 parts-per-billion) resolution. Most VOCs are toxic, odorous and flammable. A built in spread spectrum RF (radio frequency) transceiver allows the unit to communicate information on a real-time basis on the 900 MHz ISM band. A remotely located ProRAE base controller can communicate with up to 16 AreaRAEs with up to a two mile range.

RAE Systems is proud to introduce the AreaRAE IAQ at Indoor Air 2002 in Monterey, CA from July 1-4, 2002. RAE Systems’ advances in PID technology gives IAQ investigators, industrial hygienists, hazardous material and public safety teams an ultra-sensitive VOC detection tool which provides immediate insight and diagnosis.

Traditional IAQ monitors that measure just temperature, humidity and CO2 will miss this critical indoor contaminant. Toxic contaminants are routinely found in office buildings and public facilities.

Increased interest in the vulnerability of our buildings to chemical, biological and radiological threats, new guidelines from the EPA, and increased public concern, have created a new market opportunity for the AreaRAE IAQ in indoor air quality, homeland security, EPA compliance, hazardous materials management, industrial hygiene, and public safety monitoring.
