World’s most comprehensive website for mind body medicine and health information now open
A unique health information web site, HolisticOnLine, has grabbed the attention of physicians, nutritionists, mind/body experts and everyday citizens throughout the world! HolisticOnLine was established by Dr. Jacob Mathew, president of International Cyber Business Services, Inc., Akron, Ohio, and his wife, Shila Mathew, MD, a staff psychiatrist at Kaiser Permanente in Cleveland, Ohio. The two doctors designed HolisticOnLine to provide objective health information on a huge host of topics, integrating both conventional and alternative medicine, in a user-friendly web site. HolisticOnLine is the most interactive, objective web site for health information worldwide!
HolisticOnLine got its start from Dr. Shila Mathew’s concerns about some of her patients, who, notes Dr. Mathew, started to ask me questions about St. John’s wort, kava, chickweed and other herbal remedies. To my horror, I discovered that taking some of these herbs with certain prescription drugs could be very dangerous. For instance, St. John’s Wort should not be combined with some prescription anti-depressants. Most doctors simply doesn’t have the time or the knowledge to explain all the ramifications of alternative treatments, but patients need this information.
Dr. Mathew voiced her concerns to her husband, Dr. Jacob Mathew, and HolisticOnLine was born. Developing the new health information site was an easy leap of faith for Dr. Jacob Mathew, whose own business, International Cyber Business Services, Inc., develops interactive web sites, e-commerce solutions and enterprise solutions for businesses of all sizes.
HolisticOnLine, in operation for several months, has already had visitors from every corner of the globe. The site covers all alternative therapies, with a special emphasis on mind-body medicine, and offers in-depth coverage of acupuncture, ayurveda, aromatherapy, homeopathy, spiritual healing, nutrition, vitamins, herbs, yoga, common remedies for many ailments...and much more! The extensive herbal section, for example, includes descriptions of herbs’ possible interactions with prescription drugs. Herbs from India, China, Africa, South America, Europe and the United States are profiled. The site, designed with the layperson in mind, is written in easy-to-understand language, although many physicians also find the site very useful.
